Pharmacodynamics = Pharmacon + DynamicsPharmacon means Drug and Dynamics mean Action or Power.
So, Pharmacodynamics means the action or power of a drug to the body.
What is pharmacokinetic?
Pharmacokinetics = Pharmacon + kineticsPharmacon means Drug and kinetics mean movement.
So, Pharmacokinetics means the movement of the drug to the body.
Basically, input/administration of a drug to the body to output/excretion from the body, this total movement related study is pharmacokinetic study.
What is the drug?
WHO (1966) has given a definition-"Drug is any substance or product that is used or is intended to be used to modify or explore physiological systems or pathological states for the benefit of the recipient."Simply we can say that a drug is a product that can be used for diagnosis, prevention, treatment, cure of a disease.
Application of Pharmacology:
- Pharmacology is a very important subject in the medical world. There are thousands of application of pharmacology subject. Physicians, Pharmacists, Nurses, Paramedical practitioners need knowledge of pharmacology. Without the application of pharmacology, the medical or healthcare world is blank.
- Clinical pharmacology is one of the most important applications of pharmacology. This is the study to improve the safety, efficacy, and to decrease the side effects of a drug. This study is very useful to evaluate new drug molecules by collecting and evaluating the data evidence. Now a day clinical pharmacology has huge applications.
- Pharmacovigilance is one of the most important applications of pharmacology. This study relating to the collection, detection, assessment, monitoring, and prevention of adverse effects of pharmaceutical products.
- Toxicology is the study of the poisonous effect of drugs to detect, prevent, and to treat poisonings. It also the study of adverse effects of drugs depending on the dose, the same product can be a drug or can be a poison, depending on the dose.
