C-reactive protein or CRP is the term that you have seen or heard in your medical report. CRP test is related to inflammation or infection. Now we going to discuss C-reactive protein and C-reactive protein cell in detail.
What is C-reactive protein (CRP)?
C-reactive protein is a pentameric protein that presents in our blood in very small quantity. Produced by hepatic cells in the liver. When infection occurs in our body, hepatic cells starts production of CRP. So that the amount of CRP is rising in our blood at the time of infection or inflammation. CRP announce our immune system to attack the enemies to protect our body.
What is C-reactive protein (CRP) test?
C-reactive protein test is one type of blood test. This test is to check the amount of C-reactive protein present into our blood. Basically C-reactive protein present in a tiny amount (below 0.3 mg/l). When the level of CRP increase, that may be the sign of disorder or infection into our body.
Why CRP test?
CRP test may be needed when we suffering any bacterial infections.
Symptoms are Nausea and vomiting, huge pain, fever, rapid heart rate, dizziness, diarrhea etc.
The level of CRP increases or decreases according to the rate of inflammation in our body.
Useful in treatment :
C-reactive protein test (CRP) test may be used to find out some serious or minor diseases or infections to treat them in a proper way. Bacterial infections, high sensitive CRP test is used to find out heart diseases, rheumatoid arthritis treatment, some fungal infections, fever, bone infection Osteomyelitis, Crohn's disease etc.
The normal range of CRP:
- The normal range of C-reactive Protein level is below 0.3 mg/l (milligram per liter of blood).
- CRP level more than 1 mg/l means low risk of inflammations.
- More than 4 mg/ml means a higher risk of inflammation or infection in the body.
- In the case of highly sensitive CRP test level is 10 mg/l.
- In case rheumatoid arthritis the range is more than 10 mg/l.
- When the range in more than 100 mg/l, that means several bacterial infections occur into the body.
C-reactive protein rheumatoid arthritis:
According to some studies, rheumatoid arthritis has a relation with the term C-reactive Protein. Women are too much affected by rheumatoid arthritis than men in the whole world. In our India, arthritis is very common for middle age women. The CRP level is increasing due to the huge inflammation in the affected area of arthritis. That's why the CRP level is abnormal in Indian women but normal in men.
CRP Test may predict cancer:
CRP Test is very much sensitive to detect inflammation in the body. Using this test we may predict the cancer cells in the body. Too much high level of CRP may indicate the presence of high inflammation into the body it may be cancer or other conditions.
Treatment of abnormal level CRP:
There are various treatments to control or treat abnormal CRP but natural way is the best way. Yoga and regular exercise may convert the abnormal level of CRP to normal level of CRP.
